Kamkolkar had two very strong criteria as he went about casting Indian Cowboy.
One was that that he'd cast based on talent, not race, while staying true to the story. The other, was that he'd avoid that stereotypical, put-on indian accents one hears so frequently in hollywood films. In other words, Indian Cowboy was cast color and accent-blind. Although this type of casting is becoming common in theatre, its not yet so in film. So Indian Cowboy brings a gently subversive spirit to the idea of realism that dictates an accent or a skin-color as a requirement in the world of film, presenting instead a very diverse and representative cast of today's multi-cultural, global society. We love the results and we hope you will too!
